Abstract

In any Interconnection networks reconfiguration may occur frequently due to addition or removal of network components. Reconfiguration leads to increase in network downtime which in turn reduces the performance of the system. In general, every reconfiguration technique has the objective of maintaining the Quality of Service (QoS), reliability, availability and dependability. In this paper, a survey is made between the various deadlock free network reconfiguration techniques. Network reconfiguration and its impacts are discussed. Analysis is made over the deadlocks in interconnection networks. Finally various research issues towards network reconfiguration are also discussed.
