A Comprehensive Survey of VANET Architectures and Design

Abstract
Vehicular ad hoc networks (VANETs) are suitable networks that can be used in smart transportation system. VANET is based on short-range wireless communication between vehicles. VANETs do not need any outlay, apart from the wireless network interface. Vehicular Ad-Hoc Networks (VANET) are particular type of Mobile ad Hoc Networks (MANET) where wireless set vehicles form a network automatically while traveling along the road. Messages can be delivered openly among vehicles without permanent infrastructure. This paper presents various kinds of communication system and components in VANET.
